This is one of the most excellent films in history to date, it won academey awards for the special effects. So all an all it is a film which no horror lover should be without in their collection."Brillant"

This is the best werewolf movie ever made, closely followed by "The Howling". It is a movie with two different moods. One light hearted, and one more depressing. The movie starts out creepy as the two Americans are attacked by a savage beast under a full moon, and one of them is killed. Then the movie turns into an amusing love story, until the first transformation scene occurs, which turns the movie into a real horror movie. The nightmare sequenses are mostly even gorier than the werewolf scenes. The make up effects by Rick Baker are simply unparalelled and makes you wish computer generated effects (CGI) were never invented, at least where monster movies are concerned. It deservedly won Baker an oscar. The acting is uneven, with great performances from Dunne, Agutter and most of the English actors, but with a shallow, one dimensional performance from David Naughton. Strangely enough there aren't many movies about werewolves, but then if there not as good as this one and the Howling, who cares? Since this is not really a B movie, i don't give it a B movie rating.

Hysterical, clever, one of my favs. Although I think of it more as a comedy than a horror flick. I suppose that it is about a werewolf, and people do get killed fairly brutally, but it definatly had a LOT more laughs than scares.
